Elfin Light…

I’ll post the image first and you might like to guess what and how it was taken 🙂
Elfin Light
So it was nearly a full moon and it rose over the buildings you see and moved diagonally left and up. For this image I waited till the moon had moved behind the trees and prayed for a little cloud and movement and was rewarded with some light cloud. Using a long exposure (3 minutes) with a very small aperture (f/16) I was able to adequately expose the lit buildings, and the moonlight streams through the slowly moving clouds producing the light beams you see. Meanwhile the moon itself is hidden behind the tree just out of the frame to the left and the strong light nicely silhouettes the tree without overexposing itself or the sky.

Dear Rodeny, It is an amazing work. I bought my D90 3 days ago and am just figuring out how to take good pictures. i am for a while playing with the zoom. I need a good tutorial on aperture, iso sensitivity, etc. and how to take best pictures of night; portrait and landscape, etc.
Hope to find some new relevant posts.
