The Secret Path…

Over the Easter long weekend I headed out to a local location looking for somewhere to try some more star trail photography here in Sydney. I was after a location which was somewhat darker at night where I’d hopefully have a little less light pollution (than looking directly at the heart of the CBD :)) but with something vaguely interesting I could either silhouette or include a twilight capture of in the fore/middle ground of the image.
Anyway I took my camera for a bit of a recon mission and sussed out some potential photography locations. However whilst walking through the park I found this nice bush trail leading along a reasonable sized creek (mind you this is all essentially in the heart of Sydney next to middle harbour). What I discovered was a little rainforest wonderland with a small creek, running water, small waterfalls, bushland trails and an abundance of wildlife and nature – it’s not the Blue Mountains but it’s also not three hours drive away either…
I was pressed for time (I was already due back home :)) and I wasn’t there at the ideal time of day but I did have my camera, tripod and a polariser so I was able to manufacture some half decent images of some of the locations – I’ll definitely be back again…
Note: These images (especially the wider shots) look much better when larger – so click any of the images below to see larger versions in an inline overlay slideshow gallery viewer.
I loved the S-curve of this stone river crossing which led off into a tunnel through the trees on the other side – if I had more time I could have spent hours here.
