A lunchtime photowalk in Sydney with a couple of fellow G+’ers. For this excursion we headed down to Darling Harbour and Chinatown.

Oberon Photography Adventure Part One…
by Rodney Campbell on Jun.08, 2013, under Life, Photography
My eldest daughter and I had a photography inspired weekend trip away in the freezy Blue Mountains area of Oberon (3 hours drive west of Sydney). We’d joined a number of other photography enthusiasts from our local camera club for a few days of photographic fun out in the countryside. We were all staying at a farm stay up in the hills outside of Oberon where it was cool and crisp – although perhaps not quite as cold as I’d been expecting – unseasonably warm weather the locals said 🙂

The lovely colours and the slight rise up the paddock to the road made for a perfect silhouette subject with the trees and fences on the ridge
Standing for Sunset
We’d actually arrived at the farm stay just on sunset. A shot a little earlier from our balcony towards some distant hills just lit by the setting sun – a fortuitous positioning of rock formation and clouds…
Smoke Signals
It was a very cool and clear evening (and we were a long way from the light pollution of the big cities) so we figured we’d try some shots of the stars – again from our balcony :)…
Oberon Milk
Later that evening a few of us headed down to Oberon to the large factory they have there since it is lit up and operating at night

The Secret Abbey…

I was on a photowalk with friends in Newtown when we went to the Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in the late afternoon just on sunset (fantastic light) and in the middle of the park lies the fantastic Newtown:Erskineville Anglican Church. The minister kindly gave us just a few minutes inside the church to take a few images – handheld with the Sigma 15mm fullframe fisheye

Vivid City Panoramas…

I took a couple panorama sets whilst out with Ana Andres at Vivid Sydney.

It was hard to find a location which would show the view I was envisaging in my mind and including the elements in the scene like I’d hoped – unfortunately neither of these do that vision justice but were the best I had on offer at the locations I was able to get to.
I headed around to the eastern side of the Sydney Opera House hoping that it may just have been lit up with a vivid display like it had a couple of years ago – alas it was bare but the complete lack of people on the forecourt in front of the house allowed me to get reasonably close with my ultra wide and shoot this seven (7) frame stitched panorama which takes in an approx 180 degree view with the giant sails looming overhead and the lit buildings of Sydney city and circular quay in the background
Vivd Opera Panorama
This is from the steps which get you up onto the deck of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and allow a more than 180 degree panoramic view from the bridge in the distance around past the Opera House and through circular quay to the lit up buildings of the city up close on the right

The Epic Tree…

A rare find was this absolutely awesome tree in the grounds of the Newtown:Erskineville Anglican Church. I was on a photowalk with friends in Newtown when we went to the Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in the late afternoon just on sunset (fantastic light) and in the middle of the park lies this fantastic churchyard and this tree.
