Waikiki Sunrise…

Day 3 in Waikiki and it was time for a very handy sunrise session on our balcony. It’s often tough getting up very early in the cold and dark for a sunrise shoot but having to walk twenty feet sure does tend to dull the pain a bit…
Note: These photographs (especially the wider shots) look much better when larger – so click any of the images below to see larger versions in an inline overlay slideshow gallery viewer.
The view from our balcony over Waikiki about ten minutes after sunrise for what looks to be another beautiful day in paradise. A stitched panorama taking in about a 250º composed of nine (9) frames at 24mm on the trusty Nikon 24-70
Oahu by Dawn
After sunrise it was time for a little BigStopper (10 stop ND) action before breakfast looking out to the west with the clouds streaming overhead from the east (as they always did during our stay – trade winds coming across the island)
Hilton Streaks
Almost nine (9) minutes of exposure at ISO 50 with the telltale BigStopper blue and sunrise splashing onto the Hale Koa Hotel and the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort
