Frosted Flora…
by Rodney Campbell on Jan.17, 2018, under Life, Photography
On the short walk between the cable car and cog train down at Eisbee I was drawn to these lone frosted trees and plants – they were just calling out to make some images :).

Whitewashed
It’s always interesting to discover just what can make an interesting image – even these few frost covered plants in a car park between a cable car and train station.

Finally time for us to be leaving Zugspitze – the end of a fantastic day trip out.

Zugspitzeplatt…
by Rodney Campbell on Jan.15, 2018, under Life, Photography
To the south of the peak in the valley below lies the Ski resort of Zugspitzeplatt (the highest in Germany with 20km of pistes on the glacier). It’s also where the cog train ends (had we stayed on that rather than switch to the much faster cable car to reach the peak).
Downhill
We took the short cable car ride from the top down to the resort so the girls could go out and play in the snow (and make their first ever snowman :)).

Then it was on the cable car back to the peak so we could catch the new Seilbahn Zugspitze back down on the other side to begin our return back to Munich.
2950m…

It wasn’t all just looking at the amazing view (tho it was very spectacular).

It was also a good time for some photographs with the girls enjoying their first time experiencing snow.

Panorama’s at the Top of the World…
by Rodney Campbell on Jan.13, 2018, under Life, Photography
Well the top of Germany at least – and certainly on land as high as any of us had ever been before… It certainly felt like we were at the top of the world.
The view was staggering and these small scale stitched panoramas of the view from the top of the mountain don’t really do it justice.
Seilbahn Zugspitze
The first is a view of the new cable car terminal with lake Eibsee down the bottom on the left (where the cable car starts) and the village of Garmisch-Partenkirchen down the bottom in the middle.

Eibsee
This second panorama is further to the left with Eibsee in the middle and a view more north (towards Munich and the rest of Bavaria).
Austrian Views
This view is westward into Austria and gives you a glimpse of those amazing mountain ranges.
Lastly here’s a view with a much longer focal length to get in really tight on those peaks. This 22 Frame stitched panorama shows a roughly 180 degree view from south to north.
