Tangerine Dream
by Rodney Campbell on Sep.05, 2019, under Life, Photography
We were once again staying at one of my favourite free camping/rest area’s from our previous trip through here
Ngumban Cliff Lookout rest area is perched up on the cliff above this fantastic little valley
Below the rocks and earth are an array of warm colours. Tangerines, Reds, Yellows and Oranges
With spinifex and these lovely ghost gums in the valley

This time I had the drone so I can show you what the area looks like from above
That’s our van parked along the cliff edge looking into the valley below

Leycesters Rest
by Rodney Campbell on Sep.05, 2019, under Life, Photography
We pulled into Leycesters Rest Area to stay for the night
The full moon rose with sunset so we had a nice orange moon rising through the twilight pastels

Leycesters Rest
Even attempted a little moonlit long exposure to try and capture a few of the brightest stars. The moon washes out most of the night sky however

The Cockburn Boab
by Rodney Campbell on Sep.04, 2019, under Life, Photography
Good things come to those who wait, or so it’s said… Time to shoot the Cockburn Boab during twilight with rapturous purple pastel skies. The hills and cliffs of the Cockburn range in the background is still getting a touch of orange glow from the set sun over the horizon behind me

Twilight Glow
and all too soon it’s all over and time for the long drive back to the caravans

The Burn
by Rodney Campbell on Sep.04, 2019, under Life, Photography
The sun had just set and now the light was turning incredible
The cliff faces were turning soo deep burning red and the twilight sky was getting some interesting colour

The moon rose just before sunset which precluded any chance of doing any astrophotography here. I’d just have to be satisfied with some twilight imagery
Moon Glow
The camera on this Mavic 2 Pro is frankly pretty amazing. This 180˚ twenty one (21) frame stitched panorama gives an amazing view of the Cockburn Range lit up red during early twilight

So worth the rough drive out here…
Cockburn Boab

and finally I found the location I was looking for. I’d been given a somewhat vague description of the location. No GPS co-ords which would have been much more useful :). We missed it on the way in (which is why we ended up at the Pentecost Crossing). But found in on the way back
It’s here -> 15°50’8.705″ S 127°55’12.548″ E BTW 🙂
I was still waiting for sunset and twilight to shoot with my normal landscaping kit. So I fired up the drone for an aerial view
Cockburn Boab
The range doesn’t look all that far away… As it turns out I had to fly the drone around 3km’s away before I reached the face of the closest cliff
This new Occusync 2.0 technology for communicating with the new DJI drones is frankly amazing

Then it was moving towards sunset and the good late light was really starting to hit those west facing cliffs
