The Fried Egg

I spotted this on Google Maps as we were driving towards our eventual destination for the day
Is that a huge fried egg in the middle of farmland – surely not… But once we’d stopped beside the road on the way past and I’d flown up… there it was, and indeed it did look like a fried egg amongst the paddocks

Soil salinity and dryland salinity are two problems degrading the environment of Australia
We were on our way inland to stay at my uncles place in a small farming town in the wheat belt of regional Western Australia

Western Australia is the state most affected by salinity with nearly 7,000 farms and almost 2 million hectares of agricultural land showing signs of salinity. Some so badly salinised land unable to be used for production
