Long and Wide
Long and Wide – A seven (7) frame stitched panorama taken at sunset at Long Jetty on the Central Coast
I’m not particularly keen on that curved railing. I probably should have shot it from higher or at a longer focal length but it is what it is…
Pretty calm setting so the water is nice and glassy for some good reflections
Note: These photographs (especially the wider shots) look much better when larger. To see larger versions in an inline overlay slideshow gallery viewer click any of the images.

Otherworld
Amazing textures and patterns that look like it’s from another planet. Quite mysterious and beautiful to look at like this but probably not so much in real life on the ground
It’s actually a straight down view over part of Mannering Lake on the NSW Central Coast
I think “lake” is probably a generous term – I’d say “mining tailings dam” is a more likely moniker

Raining Illusions was the image I’d ostensibly come to Sculptures By The Sea to take
All the rest was just some light painting fun before and after this
The sculpture is titled “Lens” and is by artist Joel Adler. It’s in what we call the prime position here in Marks Park at Bondi. A giant disco ball (or mirrorball) sitting within this stone circle. It’s spinable too
For this final image we have some light painting extravaganza in the foreground blended with the star trails for the sky
We had a bit of luck with the near absence of clouds. From around 10:35PM till we were forced to finish at around 11:20PM. Alas the clouds started rolling over at this point. I was actually hoping to let the trails run for at least another hour. Unfortunately around 45 minutes was all we’d get
I even managed to get some of the star trails reflected in the top part of the mirrorball which was kinda neat
The pixel stick rainbow wave wasn’t mine. Another group of light painters wanted to jump in and do some stuff before we started doing star trails exposures

By artist Ling Gang Mao, “The Earth Is Flat” is another artwork to be found at Sculpture by the Sea at Bondi this year
I have “the map of China” floating in an extended sea of green
The Broken Man

The Broken Man
This piece at Sculpture by the Sea at Bondi is actually titled “Benoit”. A sculpture by artist Bruno Catalano
Some nice streaky (long exposure) cloud movement and star rotation in the sky. A little blue EL wire extravaganza at the bottom. Some selective side lighting of the sculpture and that’s it
