Lake Pukaki
From Peter’s Lookout there is a walking track that winds it’s way right down to the shores of Lake Pukaki. Some of my girls enjoying a “refreshing” wander out into the lake. It was quite warm in the bright sunshine walking down to the lake but the water was VERY cold 🙂

Peter’s Lookout
This is the view from Peter’s Lookout itself. Mount Cook in the distance and the strong milky blue of Lake Pukaki beside us

The Drive

The Drive
More snaking road goodness from the road next to Peter’s Lookout. Using a much wider focal length for this one (the 24mm end of the 24-120 instead of the 120mm end). Mount Cook, though still lined up perfectly, is much smaller in this frame with the winding curved road taking much more space and weight in the image

Take me to Mount Cook

Take me to Mount Cook
Along the drive towards Mount Cook is Peter’s Lookout. It’s a great spot to stop along the way. About one third of the way along Lake Pukaki it sits on a rise above the lake
Having checked out this location on google maps before coming to New Zealand I’d planned to take this shot from here. The location affords this fantastic view down along the snaking road with Mount Cook lined up perfectly in the distance
The lake itself is also pretty amazing with this rich milky blue colour
Lindis Horseshoe

Lindis Horseshoe
A 180Ëš stitched panorama at Lindis Pass. Having climbed most of the way up one of these hills (you can see the path on the right) you get a much higher perspective, and a much higher takeoff point
This affords a much wider and grander view of New Zealand State Highway 8 winding it’s way through the pass
