Fox
Fox River in the valley heading up towards Fox Glacier (way off in the distance)
Unfortunately the rain was absolutely torrential the day we arrived in Fox Glacier. So we didn’t get the chance to hike up to the glacier viewpoint, nor take a helicopter ride up there

Suspended in Hokitika
This 360˚ panorama was taken handheld standing in the middle of the Hokitika suspension bridge
A couple near distance stitching errors in there but overall it turned out pretty well
Two of my daughters posing for effect over these still amazing waters

Hokitika Transit
A 180˚ panorama taken inside Hokitika Gorge looking towards the suspension bridge you can walk over
The gorge was ground out of granite by the Hokitika River. The amazing turquoise blue water caused by hard work high in the mountains where rocks are ground into a fine powder by the movement of glaciers

Hokitika Aqua
Staking in Hokitika we definitely wanted to go to Hokitika Gorge
The weather for the next few days was looking pretty iffy, so we headed out here late on our first afternoon rather than the next morning
It was almost 7:30PM before we arrived (thankfully sunset wasn’t till after 9PM) but it was nearly 100% overcast, threatening to rain and quite subdued
Being here so late meant we had the place almost to ourselves
I’d seen images taken here online before. The blue of the water was pretty much inconceivable. Yet here it was and the colour to the naked eye is as you see it here
