Rakaia Meadows
A place I’d investigated via Google Maps before coming to New Zealand as a potential photography subject
Amazing turquoise waters, white riverbeds surrounded by lush fields and farmlands. 100% overcast skies acting like a huge softbox in the sky for a shadowless less contrasty view. You can see down into the gorge at the bright blue waters as you’re driving along the river
Sheer chance that it only stopped raining for just long enough to grab a few shots
A 180˚ panorama looking along the Rakaia River and Gorge

The Long White Cloud
An early morning panorama (five (5) shots handheld) looking over Lake Tekapo to the mountains on the other side. Beautiful clouds and fog rolling over the hills in the coolness of the morning
New Zealand isn’t known as the land of the long white cloud for nothing

Lupins
One thing New Zealand’s south island is well known for at this time of year are these beautiful lupins
I was actually hoping the whole Lake Tekapo area would be covered in a sea of lupins. Alas it was not to be, however there were a few clusters of the beautiful flowers here and there

Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd
Possibly one of the most famous churches in the landscape photography world
The Church of the Good Shepherd nestled on a small peninsula on the shores of Lake Tekapo
Given the number of astro photographs I’ve seen taken here it’s surprising that it’s actually in the middle of town (Lake Tekapo)
Alas we were visiting around the time of a full moon so no astro for me unfortunately 🙁
