Tasman Mylk

NIKON Z 7 + NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S @ 15 mm, 62 sec at f/13, ISO 64

Normally when on holidays I typically try to arrange to do a number of “real/proper” landscape photography sessions (pre sunrise or post sunset). Alas when travelling in motorhomes this isn’t very easy. Normally I’d just get up very early (or go out just before sunset) and head off by myself (driving or walking to a location). The rest of the family aren’t so inconvenienced by this, and my family is pretty accomodating when we’re holidaying

However with motorhomes the vehicle is everyone’s temporary home. So everyone would need to get up and come (and twiddle their thumbs for hours whilst I take photos). Thus our/my dilemma…

This morning however all the girls were willing to get up early for me. We drove (15 minutes) to Lake Tasman to allow me to shoot sunrise there. Two of them even came to the lake with me (a 20 minute walk from the carpark) to watch sunrise

This image is a natural long exposure at 5:30AM (about 25 minutes till sunrise)

There are three pretty impressive suspension bridges that you cross when walking on the Hooker Valley Track. The track leads to Hooker Lake in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand

This is the first bridge that you cross (or the last on the way back as in this case). This one crosses the Hooker River coming out of Mueller Lake (on the left in this image)
