Reigning Stars
More star trail goodness over the Chatswood CBD skyline in Sydney. As shot from the convenience of my bathroom window 🙂
The shooting started at 9:15PM (end of astro twilight) and ran till 2:04AM (when the battery ran out :)). That’s 673 x 25 second frames and 4 hours 45 minutes of shooting for the longest star trails I’ve ever shot!
As with the previous night I shot this at the camera’s base ISO of 64. These shots however were at a longer shutter of 25 seconds @ f/2. Compared to the previous at 15 seconds @ f/1.8. Overall the exposure is a touch higher in an attempt to gather a few more faint stars. I was also hoping I wouldn’t also drag in too much light pollution or nuke the city lights and sky. But truth be told I mostly opted for a longer 25 seconds so I’d have less images to save and stack 🙂
The end result is a little “lighter” overall sky and “possibly” slightly more trails (even if some are quite faint)
We also had much less clouds this evening so there’s that to be thankful for
Note: These photographs (especially the wider shots) look much better when larger. To see larger versions in an inline overlay slideshow gallery viewer click any of the images.
