Pre Dawn Wanaka

It’s 5AM and I’ve woken up VERY early to walk down to #thatwanakatree to photograph it

We’ve got some cloud so I’m somewhat hopeful of some colour in sunrise (which will be pretty much directly to the right over the township of Wanaka)

A natural long exposure with a little light painting on the trees and voila for a setting the scene shot

Old Growth

We were staying in Wanaka and this is NOT that tree 🙂

It is very close to it however (less than 100m away). We’d walked down here in the afternoon to “check it out”. We were staying in our motorhomes in a powered holiday park nearby. So I was planning to wake early and walk down here for sunrise the next morning to photograph that famous tree

The Neck

Looking towards yet another amazingly beautiful lake surrounded by epic mountains. This time Lake Hawea, taken from “The Neck”. A thin saddle of land inbetween Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea
