Constructed between 1994 and 2007, the building complex measures approximately 290 by 420m covering an area of more than 12 hectares

We had a lengthy stopover in Abu Dhabi on our way to Milan (almost 9 hours). So after we’d both had a shower and changed into more climate appropriate clothes in the very nice Etihad Business Lounge (a sprawling new lounge over three levels) and taken some refreshments. We made our way through immigration and out of the airport and grabbed a taxi to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

For others thinking of doing the same thing the taxi fare was about 50-60 AED (~$25 AUD) each way and took less than 30 minutes. Plan for at least an hour at the Mosque (and entry is free)

My wife and I are off on a month long adventure in Europe – without the kids!! (who all go off on their own separate European adventures immediately after we get back)

We’re flying Etihad for the first time so first stop (after a 14 hour flight) is Abu Dhabi
