Sarakiniko Wide
Once the tourists, instagramers and early morning sunrise watchers started arriving a bit before sunrise it was time to take to the skies and see what the place looked like from above
The actual area of Sarakiniko extends quite a bit to the left and right but most people who visit stay in the areas around that channel of water in the middle and the bits of windswept volcanic rock to the left and right (especially the part on the right where many of the “classic” social media shots of Sarakiniko are taken)
I had some specific shots in mind (which I’ll cover in the next post)

Sarakiniko Moonscape

Sarakiniko Moonscape
I woke early the next morning and drove to Sarakiniko Beach for a sunrise shoot. Whilst there were no clouds for any sort of sunrise colour this place is still pretty eerie and special in the pre dawn light
Located on the northern shore of the island in the Aegean Sea, it’s just a 15-20 minute drive from where we were staying. Waves driven by north winds shape the bone-white volcanic rock into amazing shapes, and the area is often compared to a moonscape

Klima Sunset

Klima Sunset
I launched the drone again around sunset and took some more images. Including this 180˚ panorama which takes in both the village and the setting sun. This place really is magical – surely it couldn’t get any better than this … or could it …

Magic Klima

Magic Klima
Our accomodation in Klima had a rooftop terrace which was perfect to launch and fly the drone from
Klima is right down at the waters edge. Above near the top of the island sits two villages – Trypiti (which is on the right) and on the left near the islands peak is Plaka (where we’d be staying for the rest of our stay on Milos)
