Gerry and I returned to Lincoln’s Rock for a take 2 attempt at shooting some decent astro at this good location
Skies were nice and clear and being already late (11:25PM) in the evening the milky way arch was nicely laying over towards the horizon and would go down even lower through the night. Some light painting craziness in the foreground and we have this extravaganza 🙂
I’m really diggin’ my new Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 lens – excellent for astro and the OLED display on the top, plus the Fn button to easily and instantly switch between two pre-saved focus positions (e.g. infinity and the hyperfocal distance) – which the lens remembers even when detached from the camera – is REALLY handy in the dark (sorry Gerry…)
Monday earlier this week…
Me: Hey – new moon time – we should shoot some astro sometime
Gerry: F-off windy tho
Me: Yeah – not tonight
Tuesday 4:30PM…
Me: Astro @ Long Reef point?
Gerry: No can do tonight
Me: Cloud predictor looking good for Thur night
Thursday 8PM:
Gerry: Clear skies 🙂
Me: Wanna go shoot?
Gerry: Lincoln Rock
Me: (mentally… it’s already after 8PM, ~2hrs to drive there, ~2hrs back, shooting astro and light painting, maybe even star trails… it’s gonna be a VERY late night!!!!)
Me: OK
