Fira

Fira
We went for a relatively early 9AM walk from our village of Firostefani to the nearby town of Fira (which is the main hub on Santorini). The path winds it’s way along the cliff edge with impressive views along the way. These are views towards Fira from the Firostefani side with the impressive Moni Profiti Ilia mount in the distant background. There’s a monastery (Prophet Elias) way up on the top of the mountain (which we’d visit later)

Morning Santorini
Good morning Santorini! The low clouds certainly made the view towards Imerovigli interesting with the upper reaches disappearing into the clouds

Firostefani Sunset
The view at sunset (8:35PM) from our accomodation in Firostefani on the Greek island of Santorini
Santorini Nights
A wide 180˚+ panoramic view as day turns to night at the tail end of twilight (9:20PM). As the sunset glow fades on the horizon, the ring of Santorini’s villages lights up from all the places clustered along the cliff edge

Firostefani View
We picked up our hire car at the main ferry port near Fira and drove to our accomodation
We’re staying in Firostefani which is on Santorini’s crater rim. The main town of Fira (also on the crater rim) is to the left of us and to the right is the village of Imerovigli with Skaros rock just in front of it (it’s that silhouetted bit sticking up just to the right of the sun). Way to the right (out of view and almost 10km around the crater rim) is the town of Oia
Here’s a first look 180˚ view from the balcony of our place – having a crater and sunset view comes at a premium but the view was pretty special
