I entered the Sydney Morning Herald 1440 Photo Challenge which was held on Saturday the 16th of July 2011. This is the first year that the challenge has been held for the public to enter.

The basic premise is that you’re a photojournalist for the day and are given three briefs to photograph in the Sydney CBD on that day (1440 minutes in a day).

The competition is essentially held in conjunction with the Sydney Morning Herald Photos 1440 and World Press Photo 2011 exhibitions held at the NSW State Library.

The three Briefs for this year were:

1. Public Transport – show the effect that public transport plays in our city
2. Red – incorporate the colour red in an image
3. City Living – show how people live their lives in our vivacious city

I joined another amateur photographer from the forums for most of the day and spent much of the day scouring the CBD for anything interesting to meet the brief.

I was pretty happy with how this first turned out – I kind of wish I’d had a wider lens (however as with everything street – I must make do with the single lens I had on)…
