March 1989 - Tim
Berners-Lee of CERN (European
Particle Physics Laboratory) proposed the project.
End of 1990 -
first piece of Web software on NeXT. Demonstration at Hypertext '91
conference.
1992 - Tim
continued to speak on and evangelize the project. Small handfuls of
developers working on small pieces of WWW.
1993 - NCSA releases the
Killer Application, Mosaic.
1993 & 1994
- The WWW sees phenomenal growth and much higher Press and Media
profile.
